Foolcut

Somewhere back in the 2004 one weird Slovak musician Dusan Vanco picked up a sampler, piano and macintosh, and named himself Foolcut. The debut EP, 'Something like Jazz' (released on NodeRecords.de) signaled Foolcut's entry into the world of music.

Foolcut's music is based on foolish cutting, sampling and recycling, interlaced with live instruments and electronic. Weird jazz and cinematic music from his point of view.

When Foolcut hears something suitable for re-arranging, he uses it. This happens because he likes that specific sound, and not for the reason that he is not able to do his own music without sampling. He's got a lot of old vinyls which he converts into digital form. This is his source of samples.

So, what does it mean, Foolcut? Let the author answer. “My music is jazz based on cutting, sampling and recycling, and on foolish cuts. That is why Foolcut”.

Presently Foolcut is a co-producer of the legendary Slovak hip-hop formation Zvuk
Ulice. “Hip-hop crossed with jazz or funky have potential”, says Foolcut. Except that he makes remixes, for example works with Slovak underground hip-hop artist Peto Tazok (SurrealMadrid.net).

Foolcut had some live actions at the beginning, mostly using a laptop. That was, in his opinion, quite boring for listeners. Actually he create a new formation for live concerts: with vocals, turntablism, saxophone, tube, and guitare.
